Ok yeah,,,my secret "fancy":icon_e_ugeek:

well I know that next to no one here digs these books save me and one or two others

These are mainly the only Vamp books I like as Rice incorporates so much history and "real world" happenings into these stories (yes Iliit, I like what I have read of yours as well :love_heart:)

I am currently re-reading and reading the ones I missed first time, in order

And her world is not all just vamps, there is the mummy RAMSES THE DAMNED, witches and body thieves and other spirit types flailing around her books too

Never liked how she insists on making nearly every character a bisexual or homosexual

I mean no prob with the idea, BUT EVERY character! GEESH!!

Anyhow, Orci and Kurtzman will be heading up UNIVERSAL Studios production of a series of movies that will draw on all 13 novels in the Vampire Chronicles

the Tom Cruise film was ok and kinda went with the book and QUEEN OF THE DAMNED was an abomination!
Lets hope they get these right

I read Prince Lestat the other week speaking of Anne Rice................
It was ok if you are a completest, but if you only like the core 3 vampire chronicles, easily miss able.

I read the first three and Ramses the Damned.

Lost interest after that. Not my kind of vampire.

Orci and Kurtzman are responsible for the following franchise gems:

Transformers I and II
new Star Trek I and II
The Amazing Spider Man I and II

Did I say gems? I meant shit (except Star Trek I which was alright).

there are misguided, delusional ppl who take misguided adventures with material they should have never read (or watched)

take Anne Rice and TWILIGHT or Star Wars and KRULL

so i am not really a vampire enthusiast

especially if they get ridiculous (like TRUE BLOOD/TWILIGHT)

what I like about Rice's vampires and other immortals is the same reason why I liked BOAT OF A MILLION YEARS

(wonder why no one ever tried to make that into a film? maybe make a good NETFLIX or AMAZON series?)

Recently announced, even have a trailer! VAMPIRE CHRONICLES coming to AMC in October

AMC is now focusing on INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE for this season, though, as a series, that could easily include other source material

but, AMC has plans for a lengthy run- and the source material is definitely out there to build on

not sure-- I mean I can guess-- why they cast Louis as they did? I mean, doesn't change the story really. And why have it set happening in the early 1900's instead of the the 1790's, not sure....

https://collider.com/interview-with...ies adapts the iconic,on AMC+ that same night.

Although AMC is releasing a new series based on Interview With The Vampire, the company acquired the rights for the integrity of both The Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches

Titled the IMMORTAL UNIVERSE ,AMC and the Rice Family (since Anne died) have released INTERVIEW last month for a 7 ep S1

and now I understand why the timeline changes

sort of

I mean, it is no real big thing to have done, the story is still the same, the characters the same.

what they have done is, imo, very clever. they have taken the original story where Daniel Molloy (played by Christian Slater in orig movie) is now older in 2022.. it IS during the covid pandemic and he has a terminal illness and one day gets a package in the mail with the cassettes of the orig interview he started with Louis back in the 70's, as in the book

this is the clever part because it will give the showrunners on the Rice family- if they are involved much- to include in a retrospective look back way- the "current" status of Lestat and the Vampires per the latest books and look back through the stories told in all the old books

so instead of plodding through time in book release order, they can start at the end (or near the end since the 'last' book as not been written yet) and work back

not positive this is what they are doing,, but it looks like it is. so far i like what i see

and no one can cry "woke" from the "gay" scenes as the relationship between Lestat and Louis is like that in the book and follow on books. or Lestat and others..

we will see what we see ..def NOT a 'sparkly vampire' show as it should NOT be :)

also happy to see they have named it the IMMORTAL UNIVERSE and have the MAYFAIR WITCHES scheduled to release in the winter. title also suggests we may see RAMSES and other of Rice's non vamp Immortals and their travels though history as well
