On-line "work"

So ,out of my boredom and in anticipation of the coming winter, does anyone know of any "real", non pyramid scheme online sites that actually pay you for real work?

I checked out a couple of ones adverted, but they are mostly pyramidal schemes like Amway or Avon where one is expected to recruit others.

I knew a person about 10 yrs ago who did some online "customer service" responses (typed) for a hospital across the country someplace so I know that these things do exist

Anyone know of anything? Not really looking to make money, but rather something to do

and if I make some money it will help me justify the time I spend online to my "commander" :cameron21:

YES. There are the rewards sites, and I can vouch for Swagbucks (I worked there myself):

You make money by surfing, using their search engine, by watching videos or playing games or taking surveys. Do NOT use any of the offers which require you to pay anything, even shipping. It just isnt necessary. You can make Amazon gift cards, or take cash in the form of prepaid credit cards. There is Inbox Dollars:

http://www.inboxdollars.com/

Same thing, but the surveys are picky. You can be "screened out" if you are too old, not the right sex, or a cord cutter. This pays in a check when you reach $30.00 in Inbox Dollars credits.

If you are referring to telecommuting a job, yes they exist but are hard to find. Usually they require you to come into an office to fill out I-9 forms, and you have to allow configuration of a VPN to the main office to use. You have to track hours (usually done automatically based on your logins), and some require a webcam. Questions:

What type of work would you do? Sales or Service?
What are your pay expectations?
How much time can you spend doing this?

I am a telecommuter (actually we call it OPW - Off Premesis Worker). Then again, I'm a Senior Consultant for Business Intelligence, CRM, Data and Analytics so it is probably not the same type of telecommuting being discussed here. In my position no time sheets or video cams or stuff like that - I work projects and we check in weekly or as needed to collaborate on getting them done. I have a company laptop with a VPN for using network resources.

Your job is the typical setup. But it does require you to attend training, as you have said. That is the other model, using processed units to comply with the OPW job (completed work). I think yongjin is thinking of something less formal, but he has not said yet. :)

I would prefer to do more of the type that you first listed. I am not looking for any "real" income--just something to take up some time and get a few dollars at the same time

Like I have said--being retired/disabled (in a govt system that "punishes" one if they try to contribute by doing some work while disabled) and with the outdoor projects on cruise control-and winter coming--I have a bit of surplus time on my hands

There are only so many gardens and landscaping projects I can do--we already have 3 fairly good sized Koi/goldfish/lotus ponds here that I made==only so much firewood I can cut...

When I went to school, it helped to fill this time void, but that is all done now.
