North Korea Hacks Sony gets them to drop stupid movie....

So North Korea has hacked Sony and gotten them to drop a stupid movie (Seth Rogan was involved- of course it's stupid :P) and now what? Will Americans buy it (or pirate it :P) just to let NK know they don't control American theaters? I understand (sort of) why Sony has dropped the opening of this movie (the Interview is a spoof on NK's tin pot dictator) - if an attack really does occur at a theater they would be sued so bad! :cylon-pancarte04:

but that aside- I felt this movie was going to be a stupid flop- not gone anywhere, no one would have bothered with it- then NK got their panties in a bunch and have made me decide to BUY it just to piss them off! I'd probably never watch it - or watch it to heckle with hubby :P, but not seriously consider it "entertainment" (it has james franco and other than the recent apes movie he was in IMHO he's NOT a good or interesting actor to watch!). But if a tin pot dictator from a backwards country thinks he has a right to tell ME I can't watch a dumbass movie about him - he doesn't know RAC! :tealc-gun02:

Why dont they just do it for real and release a documentary of the thing? Reality Movies...that's the ticket. :) The NK roaches got pissed because the movie depicts the scenario of the NK leader being assassinated.

I despise Seth Rogan and James Franco. They are self-important, un-talented douche bags that enjoy an undeserved fame.

That said, this whole situation is just beyond stupid. I'm inclined to think that TPTB are hyping this whole thing to increase interest in what is sure to be a turd sandwich of a movie. NK isn't going to stage an attack at an American theater (and doubtful anywhere else for that matter) as that would put them in the crosshairs even more than they already are.

In short, this is a whole lotta nuthin' except hype. The movie will get released eventually and millions of idiots will watch it simply to find out what the shouting was all about.

Why would they even make the dumb thing? Who wants to see just a movie about taking out the NK leader? We want the real thing! All kidding aside, it bothers me that Sony has remained completely vulnerable to hacking after hundreds of millions of dollars worth of cyber damage over the past 10 years.

Sony security has always been laughable. The even more laughable part is where some theatres were going to protest Sony's move by having a free showing of Team America World Police. Then Paramount denied them permission to air that film.

Of the six big "majors" in the Industry, Paramount by far has the best digital security I have seen. They have the newest technology, the most widespread use of encryption and network "hardening" and the best track record for anti-hacking in the entire Industry. You cant even sneak a disguised flash drive into any sensitive area without being detected.
