New Poppy

I was away from home for a few days and my wife against my wishes went and got a dog . Dam her . It's so cute and lots of fun . It's only a year old so is needing some training . The reason I asked my wife to wait a while before we get another dog is because I am not home during the week all summer because I am house sitting and taking care of a friends poppies whilst she deals with her sister whom has terminal cancer .
Well the poppy is here now and is a little sweet heart . Very affectionate but a handful also for such a small poppee ...

Its just a cute way of saying puppy . De Poppy
:) :) :)

The poppies name is Pogo ... The puppy can jump 5 feet straight up onto our breakfast bar and thats just a day after having its tubes tied ... Nothing is safe on the kitchen counter . Its emptied the green bin box a few times now , pood and peed on yhe floor a few times and bit my finger when I tried to pull it out of the green bin . Little basturd !!!
We figure its a beagle/ jack russel mix ...

;) ;) ;)

sounds adorable but the idea of a pet makes my nose itch...allergies you know. Actually i am a "dog" person and mr rac is a "cat" person, so no pets. I would have loved a short-haired dog but he doesn't like them and cats are a serious allergy for me!

Nah. First time I've seen the word "poppy". Canadians have some really stupid expressions but that isn't one. :icon_lol:

I know...and you have to say it in the babytalk voice to pronounce it correctly. :encouragement:

Better start training soon! What a cutie...I can see the beagle in her very clearly. The behavior sounds like a Jack Russel. If so, you will know when she starts digging all those little holes around the yard :anim_59:

Aww...no pets! I told Jim this once, but there are pets you can have which are furry and do not trigger allergies. One would be the rodents: rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, rats, squirrels (not recommended). Then there would be birds (all of them) and reptiles (all of them) and fish (all of them). If you are more ambitious, larger animals like horses will not trigger them. However sheep and goats can trigger allergies.

Now me, I have a female Border Collie:

Border collies are my all-time favorite dog to this day. :) The personalities they have are so unique, even between two different border collies! Yours looks shy. I know one who lives for the beach. He runs into the waves like he is actually a fish trying to get home. Another one has a love affair with a softball. I see his owner walking the dog and the dog has his ball in his mouth the entire time. Only when he brings it to somebody and drops it is it time to play. If you try to take it from his mouth he will growl with it still in there. LOL!.

Beautiful dog you have there!

She's a character to be sure. She completely disregards other dogs - to her they are nonentities. But human beings she loves - goes up to them and looks for attention. And of course being a Border Collie she can be bossy - it comes from the herding instincts. She will watch what you do and if you repeat yourself on a regular basis (like watch the same show at the same time for example) she will herd you to the proper seat at the proper time and won't be content until she sees the right program on the screen. Very typical for the breed.

My cat Siete used to demand that the TV be turned on. He would sit intently in front of it looking for action. I have it on a timer now. :) Border collies are extremely intelligent.

When I had a Springer Spaniel as a kid I taught her to poop and pee at the back of the yard under the bushes. Never once had to clean up poop or watch my step on the lawn in all the years that I had her. Sure it took some effort at first, namely by putting in the time to take her out on a regular basis, but she caught on quickly. :encouragement:
