Looks like a shoot em up or blow up stuff action movie. I never grew up with the original mad max so how was it to the people who have watched it?

You will experience it the same way today as when I watched it (Mad Max) when it came out. The scenario is not locked into a timeline, and although the way the characters interact might stand for other issues today as opposed to then, you will still enjoy it. But Mad Max was not a "deep" movie. This clip reminds me of the originals a lot.

So why is it so appealing to so many people? To me the original looks nothing more post apocalyptic/dystopia set style action/fiction movie.

So why is it so appealing to so many people? To me the original looks nothing more post apocalyptic/dystopia set style action/fiction movie.

It was the first of the genre done in that style. It became a model for a lot of other movies later.
