I'll trade you a couple of your fibro nerve endings for a few of my non functioning nerve endings. Balance.

Just had a lovely beer from The Bruery. This year's "Chocolate Rain". I'm feeling comfortable and creative now. Hopefully I'll be able to finish my latest bit of porn...uh...literature before I go to bed.

I will gladly take your non-functioning nerve endings! Been trying to kill a nerve in my foot for the last couple years. Nothing works! :(

Now, before you say anything, keep an open mind and hear me out ...

Do you realize how difficult it is to find a doctor who even TAKES Fibro seriously?

It's like years ago, when Doctors didn't think that PMS was real.

So much (not) fun.

Mine takes it seriously, which is to say, he acknowledges that I have it but has no clue on how to treat it. He actually looks up what's recommended on his Blackberry while I'm sitting there with him and then wants to throw pills at me like a monkey flinging poo at the wall. All this while claiming that there aren't any rheumatologists in my network to send me to blah blah blah. So far I've had more success treating my symptoms naturally compared to the garbage RX's he tries to write.

My brother gave me some info on his RA doc and now I just have to work on getting the referral. It's all such a stupid game.

The pharmaceutical companies are trying to get doctors to throw Lyrica at it. That crap is dangerous!

Sherry suffers from this too (fibromyalgia). And re PMS...how could any man who has lived with a woman or been in a long term relationship with one NOT believe it is real? :icon_rotflmao:

Ya, well, it has been a common habit to minimize women's health issues for a very long time. If you can't see it and touch it, it can't possibly exist. It's just "all in our heads" and if we buck up, put on a happy face and try hard enough, whatever the hell it is will just go away.

There's a reason why when you're freaking out, it's called "hysteria". <grumble>

At least Western society no longer believes that if a pregnant mother sees something disturbing, the baby will end up being deformed or otherwise disabled.

It was referred to as "confinement" for that reason. Pregnant women were squirrelled away from the rest of society and kept away from anything deemed "upsetting" so as to avoid such a result. Pretty sick, innit? Nine months of relative solitude. No wonder some of these women turned to things like laudanum to ease their days.
