Interstellar is a movie by Director, Christopher Nolan (Inception, Dark Night Trilogy).

Mainly based on the scientific theories and script treatment of renowned theoretical physicist, Kip Thorne. Interstellar is set to be released in November 7, 2014.

Nolan and Emma Thomas are producing with Lynda Obst, and Jordan Goldberg is exec producing. Obst commissioned the original treatment and Steven Spielberg came aboard in 2006, when Paramount owned DreamWorks and after the filmmaker became intrigued by Caltech physicist and relativity expert Kip S. Thorne and his scientific theory that wormholes exist and can be used for time travel. Spielberg set Jonah Nolan to write the script, which made it easy for Christopher Nolan to come aboard after Spielberg left the project. The ambition is that Interstellar will depict a heroic voyage to the farthest borders of our scientific understanding.

Looks....interesting. :) But something tells me this might be one of those dramas wearing a spacesuit. :( I will need to see more trailers. But it looks good, especially with the rest of what you are telling us.

I like the teaser, felt like a nice homage to the history of space travel. I liked the message sorta, kinda reminded me of the pale blue dot vid:

There will never be another Carl Sagan. I watched his shows religiously growing up.

Yeah, I sorta agree and disagree. I think there are Carl Sagans out there, but people no longer care, I think. I mean, the previous generation were into science and the beyond sorta. These days, priorities have shifted vastly I think to materialism/consumerism and the sectors of knowledge that more fall on the so called practical and/or narcissistic (how does it benefit me) side. People just no longer care.

Second trailer:

Glad they're including time dilation/contraction stuff (the two kids aging to be the older redhead and Ben Affleck's brother). The spacetime/warp/whatever bubble was really cool. The spaceship is kinda neat too because it doesn't have that sleek, aesthetically pleasing look, not glossy and shiny looking and crap, but more crude looking that befits a sort of realism to it. I mean, just look at our space satellites today, they look like crap inside and out, but it's functionality that is key.

I hated Enterprise (that prequel show) for how sleek and refined all the tech was. I know people hate prequels, but I'd love to see a prequel where they show that actual transition from first contact to solving the world's problems, ending the aftermath of the war, unification of people, technological revolution due to the assistance of the Vulcans, all the resistance and political intrigue/drama that comes with all that, the crudeness and naivety of man reconciling with the fact that they are not special in the universe, etc. Anyways, yeah, 2nd Interstellar trailer.

Good to see a new sci fi movie WITHOUT Tom Cruise in it.....

There are a lot of actors that I would to see in a sci fi film or show (and yes I know some I list have been, but would like to see them in more)--- Forest Whitaker, Kevin Spacey, The Rock, Viggo Mortensen (I think he would make a good starship cpt in any original ST product), Ellen Page, and a few more that escape me right now

There are just too few actors that are reused over and over again in sci-fi, don't know if its type casting or what, but seeing ppl like Cruise repeatedly gets grinding

Sick of Tom Cruise's soft sci-fi crap and his ego similar to that of Will Smith these days (can't ever relegate themselves to anything but the star of the show). I want a full blown sci-fi involving many things. Don't want one-trick-pony sci-fi which is what his latest flic seems to be. I'll watch it when it comes out on the interweb. Also, I totally had that same idea for that story where a soldier relives his life over and over and progresses further and further due to reliving things again. Have it written up in a txt dated I think at least 3 or 4 years ago.

Viggo would make a fantastic captain. Can't picture Spacey doing sci-fi given his ability as a dramatic actor; sci-fi isn't really known for being drama vehicles. I'd like HBO to try and do a hard sci-fi space show, even 13 episodes is fine. As long as they don't HBO it up too much. No more sci-fi window dressing, please.

I think HBO could make a great sci fi show; they have done so in so many other genres already--SOPRANOS, ROME, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, etc. Wonder why they haven't done a sci fi one yet?

As in "hbo it up" I am guessing the over use of sex and violence when it serves no plot purpose?

As for Spacey- I just think he is a good actor in general. Maybe he would make a good villain?

Is the HBO audience interested in science fiction? I dont think they are. :( But I think the sci-fantasy genre might work on some level. Real science fiction may have already gone the way of Shakespeare.

I don't know but one should be able to find out based on ratings per movie type shown by HBO, no?

I mean, if no one in the audience was interested in sci fi then why do they run stuff like PACIFIC RIM and BATTLESHIP and the other sci fi movies?

As to their shows, there are very few fantasy movies aired on HBO, yet two of their most popular shows are fantasy-GAME OF THRONES and TRUE BLOOD

Exactly. Sci-fantasy. :) Both Pacific Rim and Battleship are sci-fantasy.

Yeah but I don't think HBO or other broadcast execs fine line stuff that much--to them everything from the hobbit to star trek fits into one category that they go buy;

"SCI-FI/FANTASY"--I believe that this is the category they even use on HBO GO when looking for movies

Like in bookstores and places that still sell dvd's--they do the same, they lump all books and dvd's from the multitudes of sub genres into one catch all
SCI-FI/FANTASY

I am pretty sure this 'attitude' permeates throughout the broadcast world. Once, there may have been a distinction made on The SciFi channel but now the SYFY channel lumps it all together as well (just like they do within their new name/logo

Yep, that's what I mean about hbo it up. Don't think they've made any sci-fi. Yeah, I could definitely see Spacey being a villain, cool and calculating.

I don't think they are either, but they probably will be if you consider how ridiculously infatuated hbo fans are with hbo. But I get the feeling if hbo did a sci-fi show, they'd go the route of BSG style sci-fi, as in window dressing pseudoscience and pseudo-sociopolitical crap and heavy melodramatization.

the third trailer--

everytime I see something new on this movie, it looks good (well that is the point of an ad yes?) and more interesting

hope the movie turns out to be as good as the trailer promises--and i defi don't have any "i am sick of this guy" issues with any of the actors

something about the pilot ("you are our best pilot") also being a farmer and scrapping off a downed drone (what is that about?) is also interesting--someone in NASA(?) or similar who seems to be "normal" as well

anyhow

these kind of movies always bring out the kooks

check out these comments on the YT page:

Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more; You will look at where they were, And they will not be there.
But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

(Psalms 37:29)

The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.

(Revelation 21:3, 4)

With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Jesus said, "You are from the realms below; I am from the realms above. You are from this world; I am not from this world." (John8:23)

The earth is our home. This is where God created us. This is where he wants us to live. In the near future He and His Kingdom, under the rulership of his son Jesus Christ, will end this wicked system under Satan's control. (1 John 5:19; 2 Corinthians 4:4)

Jesus, his co-rulers, and Jesus angelic army will

- Destroy all religions not teaching people the truth from God's Word
- Destroy all human governments
- Destroy all commercialism
- Destroy all currencies
- Destroy all those who kill, cause pain, and terrorize in the name of their religion
- Destroy all who have alienated themselves from God.

(Zephaniah 2:2,3)

Before the decree takes effect,
Before the day passes by like chaff,
Before the burning anger of Jehovah comes upon you,
Before the day of Jehovah’s anger comes upon you,
Seek Jehovah, all you meek ones of the earth,
Who observe his righteous decrees.
Seek righteousness, seek meekness.
Probably you will be concealed on the day of Jehovah’s anger.

That "Probably" all depends on you and how you respond to the global warning being given at Matthew 24:14. "And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."

The trailer says that humans will eventually explore the stars in an attempt to find a new home because earth is ruined. The bible says the exact opposite. The earth is our home. This is where God created us. This is where he wants us to live. God will never allow the earth to be ruined to a point of no return or be destroyed.

Here's the bummer part for me. In the movie i see they make it to another planet. Honestly, i don't like the idea that humans will make it to another planet just to ruin that one too. If humans fucked up earth, then they deserve it, why advance to another planet only to do the same.

I'm for anything that launches Matthew Mcconaughey off this planet.
