Hulu+, Really? I hope you're kidding.

Hulu+. Really? I got bored of some of the offerings on Netflix and Prime, and I decided to check out Hulu for new stuff. Are they kidding? They show all the content on an easy to see page with the titles, but when you click half of them, they say "Only available with Hulu+, Try for free". They collect your name, information and then a credit card for billing you monthly (you can cancel this before 7 days). Hulu+ lasted all of three hours for me before I cancelled it. Why? (pouring a fresh glass of water for this)

Incomplete content.

Hulu+ does NOT have all the episodes for any given TV show. They have the most recent, and that is about it. They do not have all of the latest shows either. They do not have great movies.

Commercials.

This is the dealbreaker and the reason I canceled the service. I can stand the 10 second skippable ads on YouTube. I can even stand the three or four 10 second commercials on individual online media sites like ABC or Syfy Rewind. But on Hulu+, we are talking about almost 20 minutes worth of commercials for a 1 hour show. Really? :) Not in my world.

Commercials.

Did I go over this already? If not, let me repeat that this piece of shit service has as many or more commercials than cable TV does. I am not going to pay for commercials when Netflix does not have them, and torrents do not have them. Not going to happen, not ever.

I cannot understand why anybody would pay for this service. After TRYING to wade through a parade of commercials (many repeated the same one several times in the SAME show), I got sick of it and canceled my membership because I was afraid that Hulu might not make it easy to cancel once they had my credit card. But it's canceled. :)

What's even worse is that some shows are only available on the free Hulu and not on Hulu+. Suits, for example, is available on Hulu but not on Hulu+ for non-PC devices. Go figure.

OMG, while I was watching Cosmos, it seemed like at least one of the commercials was more than a minute long. A whole minute? 5 more minutes of show...commercial again? How is this worth paying money for? Perhaps Hulu convinced themselves that people were just ditching cable because it wasnt online for mobile devices and set top boxes connected to the internet. Not the commercials. :confused0006: But Roku misses some of the content from what I understand. I have computers attached to my TVs so I do not run into that issue, but the series they have are not all complete.

They used to be complete. Some of the older series are. Last I checked, they had every episode of shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons.

Hulu has a huge catalog, no doubt about that. But most of it is the same fill garbage you get on cable, and even on Netflix. The big differential here is those damned commercials. When you have gone for a couple of years without having to watch commercials against your will or hear them inserted into your music listening, your body recovers from them. The first hour of watching felt like I was actually being assaulted with these advertisements. The first one is the only painless one. After that, they become intrusive. Then...the SAME one comes on again, less than 15 minutes later? Im not going to deal with that, and I am certainly not going to actually PAY for it. For real? :eusa_snooty:

:smiley-015:OMG don't get me going about TV adds . Some law was supposed to be passed by the CRTC here in Canada to lesson the loudness of TV ads when they play on your TV . NOPE ,,,Still friggin loud and I'm 20% deaf and it drives me nuts nuts nuts !!!Wheres the MUTE !!!
I only have a HD antenna now that I bought off E-Bay for $69 delivered to my door . I think I can receive 25 channels or more so no cable bills for me .
I used the cabling from my previous 1 year subscription with a sat provider and have 2 HD TV's for watching HD channels using the sat cables . It was a no brainer and I only will watch the news , The Big Bang Theory or maybe a David Suzuki Nature of things on CBC or a doc from PBS . All in HD . Have you noticed how many bible thumping bastards that have there own friggin 24/7 channels on the free open HD airwaves ! ? ... What a scam they are . OMG don't get me started .
I've sometimes caught those two wine drinkin drunk ladies on a morning show from the states . They made me laugh a bit cuz it sure looks like they are pissed lol ! As irritating as Cathy Lee Gifford is ,,, she gives me wood big time . I'd love me som o dat !!!
So most of the stuff I watch is from Torrents or Netflix . With my VPN program from Avast I can watch a ton of different shows from around the world that are not on the Canadian Netflix or the American Netflix . With summer here and bicycling and motorcycling days ahead , tv is really not on the schedule much though I am binge watching some Si-Fi shows . The 100 on Canadian Netflix is my latest but it is such a puke fest:smiley-015: sometimes OMG ,,,don't get me started ...
So Hulu ,,,go do that Hulu that you Hulu so well and we'll just stay away and let you implode on your Hulu self .

Oh yeah! You reminded me of that issue too...YES, Hulu's commercials do play louder than the TV show, which means if you walk away from the screen to take a leak, you will come back to a blaring commercial. :icon_mad:

Yes, I have noticed. And knowing how they are paying for it is what gets to me. They are passing around those plates multiple times, you can bet.

Watch Under The Dome if you havent been watching. Also, if you have not seen it in a while, try Surface. WARNING: It ends on a terribly suspenseful cliffhanger that does not get resolved. Also, try the original British Primeval (Not Primeval New World). It ends on a semi-cliffhanger, but could be taken as an ending. :)

I think it's really funny that Hulu+ and Netflix get to charge us for many older broadcast shows which were FREE when they first came on. :)
