I'm also curious. From everything I've read, they're not killing his character, rather, he will be retiring from the gang. His look-alike brother will be playing Brian exiting.

Why not just retire the character and introduce a new character. Or put a line in the opening credits, "Introducing blah-blah as..."

It's going to be a problem however they handle it because for the most part the films have been from the POV of Paul Walker's character.

About as expected. The teaser went over very well and the reaction was pretty major, which pumped investors on the prospects of the new film.

Wow! A trailer added $2B to Disney's share price. Screw big budget movies, I'm going in the trailer business.

And Furious 7 is almost at 1.5 billion. At a budget little more than its predecessor (190 million versus 160 million) the profitability on these films is pretty incredible. On average films 4,5,6 and 7 appear to make about $6 for every $1 spent.

And having seen Furious 7, I have to admit they handled it well.

Using a combination of SFX and standins by Paul Walker's brother they managed to make it feel like he did not die. And the way he was written out was very character appropriate.

Also, they added a new member to the team who seems to be more a replacement for Gal Gadot (Gisele) than Paul Walker. And Jason Statham as the baddie worked great too.

Story wise, it is definitely a popcorn muncher not a brain burner, and the car stunts this time around are definitely in the Road Runner / Wile E Coyote realm. But it is a lot of fun. Everyone does their parts well, and we get a good performance from Kurt Russell as a friend of Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) who calls himself "Mr. Nobody".
