Well, it appears that TNT has decided to renew Falling Skies for a fourth season. This is great news for those who have been following this show through the first three seasons. We have seen this show and it's characters evolve over the course of the story, and the ratings average 5.8 million viewers and it is ranked as the number one basic cable scripted series in the magic demographic of adults 18-49 and 25-54. Considering the other shows which have had bigger budgets and more expensive special effects, this says a lot for the show.

This is very acceptable. Falling Skies has come a long way from its first season and the characters have grown a lot. I am looking forward to a fourth season, but I think I would start feeling jaded if they tried to stretch out this thing for too long. They should start working on a complete ending for when the show's last season airs. Go out complete, like Voyager and DS9 and Babylon 5 did ;)

With those kind of ratings going on (for cable) they'd be fools to cancel this show. I'm anything but a huge fan and even I would have renewed it based on those numbers. Now lets just hope they do something about the crappy writing in regards to the characters.

Oh, come on! The big homework episode is coming. Can't wait to see if the kid disappoints his dad again!

Warning....cute kid alert.....

:bored: So, they went ahead and did the "accelerated growth of mysterious child who turns out to have magical powers" thing, did they? I'll still watch it. :) I like the way they have changed the look of it. Looks more bleak and less comfortable. But it also looks like more character interaction (and introductions) than science fiction. We have seen three alien races and nobody has said what part of the galaxy they are from. I will watch because I like the story so far, but the kid could really make it tough.

I to would like more background on the fish heads, where they come from, why they picked earth. We know the bobble heads(?) are on a generation ship so the fish heads must come from a farther point in the Galaxy.

I'm sorry but the "Super fast growing alien baby with magic powers" trope usually spells the death knell for a scifi show. The show is tedious and unsatisfactory. It is cinematic gonorrhea in its appeal. Hopefully the axe will fall and it will be fish head soup for everyone!

There will be a scene...somewhere...where the kid is out front facing some undefeatable foe and the rest of the cast is in the background huddling together shivering whilst wind blows the child's hair...then there is a glow, and 'something' happens and all is well. :calm:

With Spielberg, isn't that a given?

Yeah, but we saw it in V the Original Series with Elizabeth, we saw it again with Poltergeist, again with Close Encounters of the Third Kind, then again with V the newer series...

I know I missed a WHOLE BUNCH more, but it is enough to be a trope that is beaten more than Pee Wee Herman's private parts.

Even with all that, I'll still be watching till or if it gets to over the top.

Me too...as I have said earlier in the thread, I still like the show. It is interesting enough for me to watch it even with all the predictable crap. :)

Falling Skies Season 4 Sneek Peek...looks interesting, sorta:

Unfortunately, as predicted, "Lexa" the magical child is going to be all mysterious and shit, having undefined otherworldly powers.

Good God, enough with the magic/alien/starchild gimmick. That crap was tired when Battlestar Galactica 1980 did it over thirty years ago. And it hasn't gotten better with successive usage of the gimmick.

OMG, the season premiere was ungodly bad! The writers must be smoking some really strong crack these days. I can't possibly see myself sitting thru this entire season, that's how lame it portends to be. How the hell did this show make it to four seasons? :daniel_new004:
