Cosmos on Fox

Why on Fox? It's science. It goes against their entire right-wing ass-kissing agenda.

Fox is such a contradiction. I'll never understand that network.

Err, not really.
My cable provider, in fact most of AUS's cable provider is FOXTEL, and we get all kinds of stuff out here. "Fox8" which is where a lot of fast-tracked shows are shown has no real "political aliegence" it just plays shows. We also get foxtel providing Faux news, Al Jeezeira, MSNBC, CNN, Fox Sports 1,2 and 3. Murdoch just saw a place where the "Fox brand" would make shitloads of money in the US, and it milks it for all it's worth. Remember, Murdoch was a "news dude" out here before anything else, and it makes sense that he pays more attention and pushes his own agenda via the news arm of Fox.

Its FOX not Fox news

Surely you don't think stuff like Married with Children, the X FILES, FRINGE, THE SIMPSONS and all of the other stuff was/is right wing quackery do you?

And the "ship/spacecraft" in this trailer looks very familiar from some other show or movie-- I am thinking something ST(?)

You pointed out a show about stupid kids failing school, a dad who works in a shoe store and a stay at home mother. Sounds like the typical right-wing family.

Next is a show about conspiracies. 'Nuff said. :icon_lol:

Can't trash the Simpsons. They rule! :D

It does seem oddly familiar. Can't put my finger on it, though.

Married with Children, the X Files, and The Simpsons were all pre-Murdoch.

Could have sworn I read somewhere that guy who does Family Guy is helping do this or funding it? Hope he keeps his humour out of it and lets Neil deGrasse Tyson do his thing, but he's not keeping it out of this it seems:

I agree with you...its ALL of Fox, not just Fox News. Everything on Fox is carefully selected to cater to a specific crowd (read: right leaning/right wing/blue collar

). Not a single show on Fox can be considered "progressive". Its the home of American Idol, Glee and even Family Guy falls into this basket. I have my TV set to skip all things Fox, even though I rarely even use the digital broadcast stations.

The Old West? Please. Exactly who in the US loves westerns still in these times? Its definitely not the Rainbow Coalition :). About the time that all that cowboy shit and wranglin' was going on, everybody else who was not a certain demographic was not too happy. When you get a chance, do an informal poll amongst any non-white Americans you know and ask them about how they feel about westerns. If Fox paid attention to things, it would notice that old western-themed stuff does not go very far and has little appeal outside of it's tiny audience.

All i hope is the new Cosmos does not go down the I D path, if it does, that will be sad :moody:

If it is on Fox, I dont have much hope.

I just remembered, it is from SLAVE 1 from SW's that I get the similarity.

According to this article, it will be on NatGeo (which is a fox channel now yes?)

It is but I like some of NatGeo's content. I will definitely watch it, if even to pay homage to the great Carl Sagan. I used to watch Cosmos as a kid religiously.
Just like I still have a the book version of ASCENT OF MAN that also aired on PBS, I used to have a book version of COSMOS as well. It got lost over the yrs of moving though. Never missed an episode-it and Sci Fi is what made me not a scientist but a science fan.

If you like Sagan then you should read The Demon Haunted World (Science as a Candle in the Dark) by him. It's a fascinating read.

The ship changes shape when it's about to go into high speed, if I recall.

Yes it did, but it was the look of the high speed version in where I got the impression from.

Just at the wrong angle, naturally since the one on Cosmos is well vertical :P
