Continuum is a new Canadian science fiction show which premiered a few days ago I believe, set and filmed in Vancouver. It's a time travel show in which terrorists who are fighting against a corporate run dictatorship which has outlawed democracy, freedom of speech, etc., travel back in time in order to escape their own excecution, while at the same time trying to prevent the future from unfolding the way it did. However there's a slight snag in their plan as police officer tags along for the ride. The show stars Rachel Nichols (Alias), Roger Cross (24), along with several Stargate alumns since the whole thing is shot in Canada. Some of the SG actors on the show include Tony Amendola, Mike Dopud, Lexa Doig and Jennifer Spence. I'm only a few minutes into the first episode right now, but so far I like what I see! You guys should give it a shot if you can find some way to watch it.

I watched the first episode and it's on my much watch list now. The part that's entreating is the people fighting to bring back freedom and democracy are the villains, while the protector of the fascist corporations corporate congress is the hero. Be the same as a backwards Terminator movie, where you're rooting for the Terminator to kill Connor.

I'll have to watch an episode or two to see how I like it, but I've never been much for "us vs them" shows. I tend to rate 'em right along with alien takeover plots, which I have always reviled.

Exactly, that's one of the main reasons why I was attracted to watching this series in the first place.

Personally I wouldn't call it a straight up "us vs. them show" since both groups have qualities that you'll sympathize with (the terrorists' struggle to get back democracy, the police officer's wish to get back to her family and stop the terrorists from killing innocents, etc.), as well as qualities you vehemently disagree with them on.

Continuum was not bad for a pilot. Don't forget good old Jordan Durham from Caprica aka: Brian Markinson is in the mix somewhere.

It definitely has a 'Terminator' feel to it. I think they only recently just filmed the 13th show so far. According to most it was a successful premiere.

Im hearing about this show. I think I will give it a whorl, since there is nothing of note worth watching except old stuff. :( I think this might be the ticket!

That was true until about 5 minutes ago when I subscribed to this: http://www.supervpn.net/canada-vpn.html for $8.00/mo, I cam watch Continuum streaming online here: http://www.showcase.ca/video/default.aspx#continuum/video

:smiley_joy:

They are right, the VPN is the only reliable way to go, but I chose a different service than they did. Same idea. IT WORKS! Not only that, but you can even use it on a phone or tablet!

From what I can see, the VPN you subscribed to only gives you a Canadian presence for about $96/year. With the Pro VPN service @ hidemyass.com, you get VPNs in various countries that you can choose at will for $78/year. Among the list of countries is the UK where you can catch Doctor Who episodes before they hit the US on BBC's website.

Im going for that instead. I started using my SuperVPN, and you can use it to watch TV, but the quality if not that good. Drops unexpectedly, pauses and constantly recalculates streaming speed when using Netflix. :( Im getting a refund.

Hidemyass is perfect for Netflix and video streaming. I also use it from Canada when I'm up there to watch Hulu.

Im back onboard with SuperVPN! I needed a connection client, and now I get awesome speed and can watch everything in Canada and elsewhere! SuperVPN does not restrict access to only Canada. They have servers on every continent. :) Except Antarctica, of course! I like it a lot. No lag, no loss. As long as we can see the content, its all good!

OMG, this show is awesome!

Continuum is AWESOME! Im totally hooked, right off the bat. Love the characters, love the premise, like the effects and the writing. Syfy NEEDS this show! Too bad it is not being aired in the States, but thanks to the VPN I can watch it. :) Worth a look if you havent seen it! :smiley_squee::beckett_new049:

I think I mentioned that they filmed 13 Continuum episodes. Actually it was Primeval: Vancouver that has 13. At least ten is a start. From someone else's scuttle-but Showcase will be talking about their new shows come this Wednesday.

With Continuum rating being twice that of Lost Girl maybe they will be ordering more, and announcing a partnership with a US cable company. Please let it not be with 'old what's-their-face'.

Somehow I had a feeling that you'd enjoy this show. ;)

I myself just finished watching the second episode, and yep, this show is still freaking awesome! I liked the fact that they didn't just leave it with Kiera giving a fake name a saying she was with Portland PD without producing any sort of ID, but instead that led to some deep trouble for her which drove much of the plot of this episode. Of course it all mostly worked itself out in the end, but it's nice that they adressed that little thing which I found very hard to suspend my disbelief for in the pilot.

Hopefully with the apparent good ratings its gotten, we'll have a second season of this in the future. :) 10 episodes is okay, but it's not enough dammit!

That episode was not available not 4 hours ago where I have been watching it which is here: http://www.showcase.ca/video/default.aspx#continuum/video/season+1 but now I see it there. I gonna watch it right now! THANK YOU for suggesting this show, it is totally freakin awesome. The best I have seen in scifi for a long time. The writing is great. I also have an issue with Kiera being able to jump into the police department without ID, even though it is obvious to other law enforcement officers that she is a seasoned professional. However, having been raised by a law enforcement officer (Dad), I understand that the PD of any city has broad ranging powers to deputize any citizen (or non-citizen) under extraordinary conditions. Profilers often have this relationship when attached to cases. Same with psychics (yes, they are sometimes hired too). I dont have a problem with it. But I dont think Kiera needs Carlos (her 2012 partner-to-be on the PD). It is obvious he is there to be the guy hunk for the women. Kiera is already a very strong character by herself, so I hope they do not allow Carlos to overpower her character. They could establish that early by having him make a pass at her and then her using that shocking wrist thing on him and putting him in a headlock and saying "Dont do that, okay?". :highly_amused:

This is a great show. I am off to watch Episode 2 now! I will be back later. :)

Wow. Canada is starting to race ahead of the US in terms of availability of entertaining content. First Netflix, which shows everything that they lost in the US, and now original productions like this show. For years it was Canadians trying to figure clever ways to access US content like Hulu and Netflix. How, it's happening the other way around.

Why does this seem like the beginning of the fall of the great corrupt American empire? Time to clean house, maybe, before the Chinese take over? :icon_lol:

Im so not used to seeing commercials. :( It seems almost bizarre to me that the episode is broken every 7 or so minutes with a freakin commercial. You have to understand, I have been watching everything commercial free for several years now. Grace "Coconut Water", Tide Pods,. Its really bad. Every 7 minutes or so. :(
