I just watched Carrie (the new one) on Netflix. It was great! Now mind you, the original Carrie was popcorn horror designed for high school age kids, and it was no blockbuster. This new one is the same fare. But if you liked the first one, you will love the second one. :) The story is exactly the same and the casting was great. This one was updated with YouTube pranks, modern people and much much better special effects.

Oh yeah, wasn't "Carrie 2002" the one where she lives at the end and is all goody goody? It was like a bad TV pilot that failed miserably.

it was a tv pilot for NBC--series was planned to air on NBC then to USA but never made it to air

I believe it is on netflix and amazon p for your viewing pleasure

it wasn't really that bad-considering it was a tv movie and all

And what kind of TV show was it going to be? Would Carrie become a detective and solve mysteries every week? :icon_lol:

I vaguely recall it, but even 10 minutes of watching tells me I would have shut it off and not bothered. :) This most recent one was much closer to the original and I liked it a lot.

That was the difference! 2002 Carrie was a TV movie, and the new one was a feature film. :) The difference is amazing. The newest one is actually decent.

YAY for remakes and Hollywuss's complete lack of imagination and creativity! Well, at least we have Avatar 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 to look forward to.

Golly gee! Can't wait 'til they bring Petticoat Junction to the big screen!

Isnt that whole thing disturbing? Remake after remake...revival after reboot after prequel after sequel. Is NOTHING original anymore? :moody:

imagination is dead--repetition is safe and profitable (at least "they" think it is)

Much of what is out there is fabricated from averages and statistics and target consumers. They craft their product so that it will grab the attention of a known demographic, then choose the methods of distribution.

exactly--imagination-as in crafting something new where nothing of the sort existed before (save for vague connections/influences)--is dead

today, no one would make a st-tos or star wars, because there would have been no previous data to spt their making

Maybe they need to change marketing companies because most remakes have flopped more than a shark on the deck of a Peruvian fishing boat caught in a sardine net. They even stank more.

It is done by using the metrics from a given data honeypot. They analyze whatever viewing data they have access to, they account for the appearances of the actors and actresses, the subject matter, the look and highest rated shows, then create something which is an amalgam of all that. This is how we get the visual equivalent of pizza with chocolate ice cream served by a blonde with DD implants dressed in red. :anim_59:

And then they throw all that data and research out the windows and say "Ah, screw it! Let's remake Dukes of Hazard!".
