Avengers: Age of Ultron. Wow, how could they make an Avengers movie suck like this?

Wow. :icon_neutral: :disturbed:. This movie was a huge disappointment. Anyone else seen this yet? Recycled dialogue and scenes, Matrix Reloaded (Reloaded) effects with a little Spiderman 2 thrown in. The story was...familiar, and felt old.

Yes, but didn't Ultron usher in a new age? Or whatever that title means? :(

I share your disappointment. At least Whedon is done with Marvel for now and deserves a long rest, but I'm interested in what he does next.

I was NOT expecting it to suck. Really.

I also was hoping for more but it was hard to understand Daniel Jackson/Black List/ James Spader then his good twin showed up and I became more confused . I never caught the name of the red /blue super guy ??? He just exploded at the end so I guess that was that ???
They seem to be getting Bruce Banners face a lot more recognizable when hulking it ... I thought that was cool ...

Well I'm definitely going to wait for this one to hit Netflix. :icon_lol:

Even in the trailers it felt like it got away from what made the first Avengers movie work. This time it was unfocused and went too far towards CGI orgies.

I expected so much more. Not sure what, but this was a half hearted effort, bordering on formulaic. There were a couple of memorable scenes, but I dont really care to see it again.

The trailers don't thrill me at all. The footage they show looks like the same fight scenes that were in the first movie. The CGI-ness of it is actually kind of tired in my opinion.

This movie may show us where Disney is going with the superhero franchises. They recognize the HUGE comic book following and "built in fanbase" for them, but I am not sure they understand how to bring it to life. They are creating new tropes to use like a formula, and this is what Disney does. They have been doing it since Mickey Mouse. It will be harder for them to ruin Guardians of the Galaxy 2...but they can ruin Thor, Captain America and Iron Man (individual films). They COULD conceivably drop the ball on Star Wars too.

Yep, that is what you saw indeed. Plus some enhancements a la Matrix Reloaded. It was nothing original. Ultron was the worst part of the movie. It wasnt "Im walking out of this" material, but it wasnt grin-inducing like the first movie.

Part of the problem is that, strange as it may sound, Loki was a better opponent than Ultron. Loki had more complex motivations going on and his relationship with Thor added to the characterizations. Ultron was just another stereotypical computer gone crazy...

THIS. You nailed it with that comment! Loki was dangerous...he was funny and menacing and his bro Thor made things much more interesting. We knew WHY Loki was attacking earth and SHIELD. This movie...not so much.

Excuse me but pissed off robot always makes a great, very underused plot.

Is that because there is not enough abut the origin of Ultron?
I mean, do they go into who made Ultron, why he is a bad guy, etc etc?
He seems like a silly enemy to choose if you don't have Henry Pym and vision around...................

I forgot to mention that, btw....in the Disney Marvel version, Henry Pym does not create Ultron. Tony Stark does. And there is Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in the movie too...I suggest you see it, just to check it off the list.

This trailer reveals Stark at the moment he names Ultron, plus it shows the cool, but recycled effects (with a bit of Matrix and Spiderman thrown in). The story is incidental. Still, see it sometime. I wouldn’t have paid to go to the theater to see this if I had known. But I wanted to.

Unlike you naysayers, I enjoyed the whole thing and wasn't disappointed in anything but the non-very-end-the-movie teaser.

It has become a family ritual to hang out until the very end of the credits to see what I can expect in the future.

Who the hell do they think they are? DC?

For the record, you can't drag me to anything DC makes at this point. Colorless, humorless, doleful, and ultimately boring.

My favorite line in this film? "Oh, for god's sake..." It tied in very nicely with a certain scene in the first film.
