Ahhh The Smells of SPRING !!! 1-2-3

Well it has finally gotten warm here in the great white north . Funny thing though . I am usually not a fan of the smells of spring having allergy's but this year has topped itself in lovely spring odors . For instance , we have the usual culprits .
(1) Road salt sitting in a dried powder on the roads until a vehicle of some sort or another drives by and whips it into a tornado of beautiful gray dust to remind us of the cold grey winter we all once again complained about but once again survived . With that lovely plume of salt dust and dirt entering our nostrils and into our lungs we sadly and only for a moment , miss that cold that kept the road salt neatly packaged in the crappy filthy white stuff of frozen water particles at bay that fell from the sky due to water freezing high up or low in the atmosphere and falling gentle without harm to body or property onto the frozen icy ground .

(2) Ah yes ,,, Our pets . Yes ,,,every spring we all have that wonderful sumptuous smell of irritating and should be shot dog owners whom do not ever pick up after there pets and probably do not have children and don't give a shit ( well there dog does / and lot's of it ) and leave the lovely decaying gifts of excrement in neat little piles and sometimes creating quite interesting designs should you be so inclined in closer inspection . There is one tool in my neighbourhood who actually picks up there dog shit but have decided that placing it in the proper container just does not exist in there thought pattern or vocabulary . They just nonsensically drop where ever there puny little brain decides at that moment . I have seen the dog shit bags as close to if not touching the side of the garbage container on several occasions . Now what could possible be going through this persons thoughts as they perform this task I ask ??? . Could it possible be a dwarf individual that cannot reach the top of the garbage lid ??? . But there are 12"x 8" openings that a dog shit bag can fit through quite easily and one could toss ones dogs dumping into the litter container without to much effort or aim ??? . Could it be that this person is blind and is using a malfunctioning Helper Dog ??? . Or are they just friggin nuts and have no idea what the hell they are doing and should never ever ever own a pet .
I have a dog and I pick up after her . No if ands or butts . So the other non pooper scoopers should have there pets taken away from them as they obviously have no idea of how much damage they are creating and grief to so many of us and our children who track this lovely creamy squishy poop that is pressed at pressure ( 8 psi ) onto our boots and into our homes ,steps , car carpet and pedals , stairs and so on .
The dog poop also decays and joins the rest of the pollutants flowing down towards our lakes and streams destroying our drinking water ways ,and becoming airborne to remind us of how many assholes are on this planet . And I am not talking about the puppy's rear ends either ...

( 3 ) And now for numero 3 . Ah yes ,,,... A new odor has joined the ranks and has added a new twist to a already stinky melting season . Yes our wonderful government has decided that all the parks need to be fertilized to keep it green and beautiful . So what do you think they used to make our parks a brighter greener and more inviting place to play soccer /baseball/football/ and bring the whole family to have hordes of fun and frivolity !!! ?

yep had an old boyfriend who worked at a chicken farm summers-- chickenshit STINKS the worst of farm smells! I feel for you tripler.

Here it's the "lovely" aroma of skunk roadkills- crossing from one empty cornfield to another on the roads-- even on the interstates.

Oh we've got the road salt everywhere and also pot holes every 10 feet on the roads. Nothing is blossoming yet but I've got allergies to beat the band! I always get them when the snow melts and the ground is still dead and barren. The only thing that grows at this time of year is mold. Yes, mold, I can sometimes see it on the lawn early in the day. It's wonderful stuff that makes my head feel swollen and makes my eyes gush and makes it hard to breathe.

Oh -- and forget allergy medicine. I've tried tons over the years and it barely makes a dent. (Benedryl can help but the problem is it puts me to sleep. Little known fact: the main ingredient in Benedryl for allergies is the exact same ingredient that is in Nytol sleeping pills -- Diphenhydramine hydrachloride.)

They must be using fresh manure not aged

once it ages-about 2yrs-it is little more than "dirt" and has little to no smell

the worse it smells and the length of time it takes to age is also a direct result of all of the chemicals and antibiotics they feed to industrial chickens. if they were eating little processed feed and than free ranging on bugs and grass, you would be smelling very little

those grassy areas will be fairly toxic for some time--great way to grow mass antibiotic intolerance in your community though!

In California, you can get a ticket for not picking up after your dog. The Park Service has special receptacles where dog poop bags get tossed.

Another thing-if your dogs or kids start to develop skin rashes after having fun in the park- it is most likely a result of the 'untamed' nitrogen in the manure (stink equals not aged manure or heavy chemical content that retards the breakdown of manure)

I would begin to document everything for future medical/veterinary purposes

And when it rains! The runoff from these parks--even if the manure is chem free--will be a heavy hit on whatever body of water it goes to. If you start seeing heavy algae blooms in lake Ontario in a few yrs (if this manure practice continues) you will know where it came from.

yup, we do show/tell them-ppl can even go to the coop and look up the chicken's butt if they want to!

A few yrs back, a couple from Ontario stopped by and bought about 10dz eggs. They asked to see the chickens. No problem

Get to the coop and they said "we had no idea that chickens were so messy"

I get all kinds of stupid statements like that, from all types of people, local or otherwise
