I see that "Mrs Peacock", Karin Konoval, will be making a return visit to the X - Files in the next few months. Hopefully it will be worth the wait after me, myself, and I, were slowly sandbagged in last years "Home" episode.

Unfortunately, I suspect that some of last year's writers are back, and yes, in my opinion, they couldn't even write for the 'dumb-waiter' in a Downton Abby murder mystery.

From what I recall the bad episodes mostly were written by Chris Carter, the creator of the show. The season finale he wrote was pretty bad.

Wow, there's even images of aliens in it this time!

Could be interesting. Have to wait and see.

With "Missy Scully" leaving the series this year, I do hope that the writers are up to task on this one.

With Frank Spotnitz leaving the "High Castle" series I expected that he would rejoin with the other X-File people and bring some needed charm back to the series.

Anyone catch the new season's episode.I thought this first episode was better than the last season.

I swear I'm not trying to be intentionally negative but after the season finale of last year I've lost interest in this show and had no interest in watching the premiere last night. The writing is too peripatetic in places and the overall story is worn out.

OMG, I just saw the reviews of last night's premiere and I'm laughing my ass off. Chris Carter is worse than a hack at this point. He basically wrote it so that the events of last season's finale didn't happen, like it was all a dream or something. How lame! :icon_lol:
Yup. That was the huge let down.

I was left wondering, hey hang on didn't this happen in season 10? I didn't see much of the previous season apart from that funny one but, since when did Mulder became the smoking man's son? What the f**k happened to all the aliens and the Magnetite

Honestly it's not even worth asking this question. X Files went to shit years ago with those horrible movies they did. And now they're only keeping it going because they want to milk as much from the show's carcass as they can. It's cynical and insulting to fans of the original show. Chris Carter is a hack who isn't even qualified to write for a soap opera.

*Am I the only one who finds it disgusting and horrific to have Scully drugged, kidnapped and forcibly impregnated? And then of course she's confused as to who the father of her child is but it's okay because, like, the child has half-alien dna so that makes it scifi and not run-of-the-mill rape. :rolleye0014: Seriously, WTF is up with that? Only a terrible writer like Chris Carter could come up with something so offensive. He is truly a horrible person.

episode 3 wasn't bad. It was the monster of the week style episode. This week looks like a parody/spoof episode which should be fun to watch

X-Files still works with the original actors!

I actually am liking this season more than the last one. The last season made absolutely no sense. This one gives the pre season 7 feel when everything went down the crapper.
Agree. It feels more like it should for these two at this time. It's like the writers took the actors and the characters they play more seriously this season.

I'm not religious but this sums up my feelings regarding this show (and others) in the abstract. TV shows have a life, they're born, they grow, then they die. We need to stop trying to keep them alive forever. The more we stretch the credulity of the premises the more diluted and lame they become.

X Files
should have been put to rest years ago. Same with Star Trek. Same with Stargate. Put this shit to bed and give us something completely new.

Actually, fans actually want a bit of Nostalgia and there is a bit of familiarity when I am watching something.

I for one would take the good old days anyday when life was simpler, when you didn't need to worry about your next paycheck and that the world was a little more compassionate and wasn't so greedy and at the sametime so fucked up about money when there are easy ways of making money.

We consumers are also to blame, because we have constantly set higher standards of entertainment, and hollywood did at one stage deliver good, quality content and it still does but it's gotten so competitive that it will probably drive someone to insanity. I as a fan can't keep up with all the shit hollywood puts out. It's just not possible to consume all that in a short amount of time.

You also can't blame hollywood for not bringing out a new IP. It's fucking expensive, tedious and draining putting out new original content on TV. A movie these days costs a quarter a billion dollars to put out because of the sheer man/women power required. It's insane that no one ends up in a mental institute when you consider the amount of hours that goes into making a tv show or a movie. This is also a gamble that hollywood is counting on. They are fighting a war to stay relevant and alive too you know? They have people that they own money to.

This is one of the reasons why actors want more money. It's because they work 12-15 hour days per day for the next 6 to 12 months of filming, reshooting, rehearsing, makup, dressing up. These people are humans too and I think we are becoming a little insane of our expectations.

When they do bring out original content, it's either hated by fans or liked by fans. We will either complain that it sucks or it isn't like it used to be. Majority of the time, it's extremely hard to build a fanbase because it can take years to build it or it can flop hard.

X-files has been about the only reboot that hasn't fallen off rails and gone really fucked up.

They've made it FUN to watch. The first episode was pretty meh but second and 3rd wasn't bad. Unfortunately, this is the last season we will get with x-files because it seems that the actors are getting tired.
