I'm waiting for my Chicago to NYC flight right now, so I thought I would get this setup now as a place to post thoughts and photos (as Marine satellite bandwidth allows).

Good luck on your adventure. Be sure to bring back lots of gold doubloons and/or ancient Bitcoins.

And remember, you're not Errol Flynn. Pretending you're a pirate and pulling a sword on the crew won't get you anywhere except thrown in the brig -- or the ship's vegetable cooler which doubles as a brig. Not fun no matter how you slice it. ;)

Damn, run headlong into those sculptures/fins and you are going to be a couple (of halves). :)

Actually they are spare Azipod blades - should something happen requiring a blade to be replaced they have them ready at hand.

I was gonna make a comment that those are supposed to be at the back of the ship.

Do they also have the required equipment to lift and mount such blades?

Not on board, but most of their ports of call have such equipment.

Great trip so far. Ship is fabulous and crew are both very nice and very proficient. They are proud of the ship and it shows.

More pics I hope...

She does 30 knots so she is very fast in the commercial ship World.

@Joelist I assume that's a bridge, which one?

P.S. Glad to hear you are having a good time. I'm sure you deserve it.

That is us passing under The Verrazano Narrows Bridge (New York Harbor). Basically once to pass it you are out of NTC and heading into the Atlantic.

At present we are in full Gale Force conditions (Beaufort Scale 10), so all open decks are currently locked off:

Well enjoy the insides. We've been having snow here so I'm doing the same. Which ports will you be calling on this trip?

Southampton is the port of call. This is the old traditional northern circle route (Southampton to NYC to Southampton ).

So you're flying back from Southampton or something?
