Good lord! I have been waiting for this for AGES! I have been wanting to install some addons for firefox/chrome, but chrome for android is quite intrusive and allows harmful ads to be played on your browser which poses some seriously harmful adware to be installed on your phone including ransomwares which is the last thing someone needs.

Go and install the better browser for android and avoid chrome because you can't install ublock origin on chrome for android.

This is GREAT news! I noticed also that mobile Chrome now has a Home button. :) I am running Android 7.0 Nougat.

Chrome does not support extensions and it also posses some serious privacy issues. Try deleting your cookies, some will be still there. You have to go to the app setting and do a complete system app wipe inorder to delete the locally stored cookies. I think they see adblock as hurting their ad revenue. I don't get these people. If they made less intrusive ads, people would less likely install adblock on their devices. I get the feeling that they created the problem in the first place.

I recently installed Firefox on my phone exactly because it has UBlock Origin as an add on. I couldn't believe that Chrome doesn't offer add ons because they offer UBlock Origin for PC's. I tried the Brave browser on my phone but it still allowed a lot of ads (Youtube) and would leave blank spaces in the places it did block ads. UBlock Origin doesn't do any of that thankfully and I love it. The downside is that Firefox runs a hint slower than Chrome. And I can't seem to tweak the settings as easily as I can with Chrome. But I can live with this for now.

The bottom line is I'm happy with UBlock Origin and recommend it highly. I'm curious to know what other add ons and apps people recommend. (I don't like having a lot of apps but I love it when I find a really good one.)

Yeah, it's definitely slower than Chrome, but I think that's because of the ad blocking and also the non-tracking request it uses. I'm considering trying a third-party Chrome add on to see how that works.

It does run slower but why would you want ads? I rather have it run a bit slower than have those youve just won the iphone!!!111 click here so I infect your phone with malware and adware!

Wait, you are behind a Fortigate firewall? That means you are either on a business network, or a very tightly knit community network. Fortigates are not issued by any ISP. Is your phone on a mobile network?

Running it through a VPN will always slow down traffic. I am not sure why you even bother? VPNs are a waste of money are just giving you an illusion of privacy/security. You are entrusting someone who probably paid their ways to get great reviews and giving away your privacy. Unless you are spy(which don't use these but use their inhouse VPNs running through their own openVPN servers), you have no need for it. You are practically making someone else rich by using it. It's such a big scam. If you use adblock, use a host file, you would block all the garbage that lurks on the interweb.

ISP web filtering pages only come up when parental control is turned on. :) Open wifi networks provided by companies will filter devices, behaviors and yes...web pages. Fortigate firewalls are commercial products used by business enterprise networks. That page comes from the Fortigate internally.

Why do you say that? With VPN, you can watch BBC and see Euro Netflix and torrent freely. Without it, you can't. And you can test your secure tunnel very easily to make sure it is encrypted. You are right about them being able to sell your privacy, since they can record all IP addresses. But with multi-link VPN you can't do that. You will only get the last IP in the chain. For those who have a use for them, they are exactly what is needed. It isn't a "scam" if it is doing what it says it will do, is it?

Yeah, sure, I can watch Netflix if I really cared enough, but you can still surf the internet safely if you know what you are doing. There are plenty of torrent sites out there that are good and provide a place for music and TV Shows so no need to install VPNs there. Still can't be bothered streaming when I can also watch it on dailymotion which currently has all the stargate and star trek on there.

Oh yeah and some proxies are pretending to be VPNs.
Especially the ones that you install on your phone or internet browser through the chrome store and claim to be 'free' lol. If you avoid going to sites you shouldn't be going to, and have adblock you'll avoid 99.9999999999% the malware that lurks the interweb. These VPN providers capitalize on people's fear/uncertainity and doubt by making millions of them and idiots are falling for it. It's like facebook.

Oh, ok I see what you are saying and you are right, there are tons of scammers out there. Also note that at least 50% of the "anti-virus/anti-malware" products out there are responsible for viruses and malware themselves (lol!). I suppose for both the VPN products and proxies need to be checked. There are several different types of VPNs and proxies. Some more secure than others.

ever since I installed adblock, I have not had one malware, ever! Last malware I got was over 10 years ago and that wasn't my fault but my friend who clicked on an ad.

They are the source of all malware and viruses and ransomware but google allows it because it makes them money. They FUCKING KNOW this but they still allow it. But of course, like all corporations, they can get away with it and no one bothers to put google responsible. Yeah sure google does keep a lot of the bad stuff and with good reason away from the general public, but it can do more to protect people from malware.

Especially those that aren't tech savy. There are assholes spreading malware through youtube ffs. I know I am being an ass by blocking ads, but it is known that hackers use ads to inject their garbage through ads because they made through flash and active x which is prone for exploits. You choose what you want.
