If they keep the same mood and feel that the first film had this could be good.

That should be very easy to do. :) This series has a freeform sort of vibe to it. They can go anywhere with the story as long as the characters stay intact. :) Looking forward to this one!

Part of me is optimistic because I like James Gunn's work to date, and because he crafted these characters so well. But I also know that historically in movies origin stories seem too be the easiest to do good on - it is the follow up where the temptation comes in to get "too big and epic". I hope they resist.

Guardians of the Galaxy has sort of become my favourite movie, so I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel. At the same time I'm not keeping my hopes up though because otherwise the movie will never live up to my expectations and I would be devastated. As long as they include a kickass soundtrack like in the first one and they don't go overboard with the story and keep the characters as they were, I'm sure it'll become another favourite of mine.

I just watched this. :) I am not going to give my thoughts on it just yet, but it did not disappoint! Definitely a click or two up on visuals and action (bordering on overload), but an interesting and enjoyable installment. There is a major event in this one near the end. I cannot even hint at it without it being a spoiler.

I just watched this again. :) One thing they MUST do, and soon, is grow Groot back into a big bad tree. Right now he is a baby and they cuddle him and he is the cute mascot who somehow contributes to battles and escapes using Cuteness Waves. It's cute, but damn we do not need that in this. Rocket gives us a great performance, and the music is on point. Again, the action and CGI and explosions and such are over the top but not so much to make it unpleasant. It is supposed to be FUN, and that it is.

Wait, what???? The version on Kodi is a cam from a theater. Where has it been released already?

I think it was pre-released in some overseas areas.

I will watch it again when the available versions are higher quality. But the one on Kodi is watchable.

Kodi has upgraded it's sources, which means much better video and audio quality. Has anyone seen this yet? So many things to discuss in this installment!

Well, I've finally seen this movie (actually a week or two ago) so I guess it's okay to talk about it.

It wasn't bad, maybe even good, though it didn't quite have the impact on me that you might think I would have wanted it to have. I have to see it a couple of times more before I can really form a proper opinion. I don't feel in a hurry to do it though. I might wait until a bluray copy is out and then watch them both back to back or something.

I gotta say I laughed at the Mary Poppins moment.

I had a good feeling about the Groot in the credits short scene.

Maybe for the next movie they can make Groot even slightly taller than in the first movie and especially more muscular. Like a body building trunk ready to woop some major ass. But with the kindest soul of course, though at the same time not shy of some (post)pubescent rebelious influxes.

What you wrote is the singular most irritating thing about any character in this film in my opinion as well.

Why make Groot such a dummy, why keep him so tiny, and why did they change the person who was doing his motion capture? This Groot is off beat and can't dance, but they still did the same shot of him dancing like they did at the end of the last movie. It's like somebody in some meeting said "This Baby Groot thing is huuuge. Lets make toys, cellphone cases, figurines, backpacks, pencil erasers and brand him on bags of peanuts and toothpicks!". Ramping up too much Baby Groot kinda ruins Groot big time. Why have him on the team like that?

They did have the era of the music down pat, but the tunes they chose were not nearly as cool as Vol 1. Then there are the major developments with Peter and Yondu.

Ok I went.

I enjoyed the film. I'd say it is not quite as good as the original but still fun and a good watch.

Things I liked:

- Ego. Kurt Russell played him well.

- Mantis was a hoot, and Pom Klemenhoff did an outstanding job showing her naivete alongside her fundamental niceness.

- I liked that everyone had an actual character arc. Among them, the best were those of Nebula and Rocket to me. Plus he still got me to care about these characters. I thought the relationship between Yondu and Peter developed very logically and culminated well.

- The overall sense of fun was still there.

Things I was not crazy about:

- The sensory overload special effects. I LIKED that the effects in the original were more subdued, and wish they would stop trying to make every film more "explosion-y" than the one before it.

The music mostly fit perfectly. As to Baby Groot - if you stayed for the post credits stuff then you know he is not a Baby anymore :). Also we saw that Adam Warlock is on his way courtesy of Ayesha (who was also a fun villain to have).

Actually baby Groot didn't bother me so much. Although I'd rather have the big Groot. Especially since groot means large/big in Dutch. I went into it knowing there'd be a baby Groot, so as long as they're done with it now I can live with it.

Baby Groot didn't bother me either. I liked that he was still developing and as such was a bit on a dumb side. In the post credits we saw that he had grown into Teenage Groot (in truth the entire credits were hilarious).
