What did happen to these inventions?

Where oh where did these devices get off to?

Hmm, one does wonder what black hole or "warehouse 13" type place they ended up in

bet those storage facilities have a big oil logo on them

In Russia during the time of the Czars, bridge designers, their wives and children sat underneath new bridges when they were first opened for testing. At least one bridge designer and his family were executed when the bridge failed under the test load.

Looking at YouTube video, I cannot determine if the inventors were shysters or not. I am 99% certain that they are both frauds.

However, if I could examine the machines, and if I could prove that they were the result of fraudulent activity, then I would want to be the person who exterminated the fraudsters, their wives, and everyone who can be shown to be a biological descendent of the fraudsters. I am serious.

yes, but still, there is precedent for inventions "disappearing"

of course there are the fairly well known Tesla ideas, creations and the like

then the electric cars of the early 20th century and that electric car of GM's from the 90s. the EV1 that was declared either unsafe or unmarketable depending on who one was speaking with

of course, i am being rhetorical; we all know that the oil companies have some major part in destroying or suppressing any development that threatens their hold on the market.

Is the documentary about the destruction of the EV1 on the internet? If you know where it is, please post.

here are a couple of first hand user accounts of their cars being recalled

there are more

---------------------------------

just a random thought "out loud"

obviously big oil wanted these cars killed. at the time, fracking wasn't a thing yet, and new discoveries of new oil beds were not yet made

could it be that big oil wanted one last shot at jacking up the demand for, at-the -time, "peak oil"?

destroy the hopes of the electric car and get ppl into SUV's, etc (with govt tax incentives for buying them, etc) and trying to cash in before the oil was to run out (again, before more was found and fracking came into full use)

then they could come back as the 'heroes' with the electric car's return-with patents they owned? and rebrand themselves as a new type of car company? making the cars, the batteries and other components?

i think you all know i am not a 'earth firster' (just how ridiculous of a saying is that anyhow? just what other planet would we put above the one we live on?)

nor do i buy into --because that is what it is, a buy in--human caused climate change--the earth's climate is changing, of course we have an impact we live here, how could we not impact it? We, as a race, would not exist in the manner we do today if it were not for 'global warming/climate change' of 10,000 yrs ago!!

I think we just need to live in a way that is sensible and to not go out of our way to destroy or over exploit our environment-use and care for the environment and what it provides us with care-pretty simple really

and that is where I am with alt energies and electric cars and the whole thing on new energies; use them and develop them if it is economically accessible for all, do not make the change in a way that causes massive job loss in old energy sectors and massive costs to adapt new methods (IMO, what the climate change crew wants-to cash in)

so, if it makes sense for you to have an electric car, do it. if it is wise for your town to power itself with a wind farm owned by the town, then do that to. The radicals on both sodes of this issue are in it for cash gain and just things that IMO only stand to make them profit and the rest of us, loss

Without getting into the "global warming issue", electric cars are still the future. Eventually sources of oil are going to run out whereas electricity can be obtained in many different ways for example through solar power which is basically an infinite source of energy as far as we are concerned. And you cannot deny that air quality suffers in places where many conventional combustion engines are used.

There should be a MANDATORY rule that they be pretty. :) When there is an electric car like this (seen in the dozens in California):

There is simply no excuse for this:

I really do not want the future of cars to look like this fuel cell Mirai

The first two are not cars in the same class though. The second one looks fine to me for a small car. The third one does appear to be offspring of something abominable, but there are plenty of ugly combustion engine cars around and this could still be a step in the right direction.

The Volt ugh. The BMW i3 ugh. Everything by Tesla yum. :)

Everything by Tesla yum

but TESLA corp is one of those 'climate changers' that are only pushing the subject to cash in!

If it were out of genuine concern for the environment, then their vehicles would be more practical and affordable

If climate change driven by man were to be proved false or at least not as dire as hyped, then the interest in Tesla (and others) vehicles would dive and Tesla and Musk's other projects (space x is it?) would tank and stock prices fall

Musk as come out and said that man has no future on this planet to promote interest in his space company's Mars habitation and orbital habitation schemes.

If he and others were not so profit hungry and eager to cash in on the man made climate change hype, then I would be far more accepting of the theory by their non profit examples. Also, if he is so concerned -that is a genuine concern to stop climate change or mitigate it- he wouldn't be pushing for settlement of mars in the way that he is (that is Mars settled as expansion not as a lifeboat)

if it ever comes to pass, going to Mars or orbital platforms will only be accessible to those who can afford his automobiles

OF COURSE Tesla is in it for the cash. But just look at what they do with that cash! The only government influence on Tesla is oversight on their (the government's) projects only. Musk is determined to fly his own spaceplane where HE wants it to go. Everybody pays, including the government(s). NASA and every other funding parasite like CERN has to pander and beg for money from the government and get projects in order to survive. Boeing is one of them, NorthropGrumman, General Dynamics, Raytheon, Mattel. None of them can survive without government projects to validate their existence. Musk doesn't have to give a shit about that.

It is not uncommon for new technologies to be more expensive initially. Then later on when a sufficient "wealthier" user base of early adopters has been achieved it becomes possible (and perhaps even a must) to expand the user base to people who are less well off. It was the same with computers. The first ones were hella expensive. I bet at that time a lot of people didn't see the benefit of having one because they couldn't do much compared to computers today and they were practically inafordable for the common folk. Now they are everywhere and basically inexpendable. In order to survive in a capitalist environment, Tesla will have to make money and the more the better. I honestly don't think that they will say "okay we've made enough money from you idiots, see ya!", they will proceed to try to absorb a chunk of the market for less well off individuals. I say that is a good thing. All of the projects in which Elon Musk is involved appear to be for the betterment of mankind. He's already got more than enough money to be able to call it quits and buy some island and retire, but instead he works like 16 hours a day. I am currently very interested in the Hyperloop One project. It is another thing that could clearly make things better for a whole lot of people and the environment.

I don't have a problem with ppl making money, even a profit as well. My issues are with ppl who use "issues" and "crisis" to exploit and cash in to build over abundant wealth

that is my core opposition to the 'climate change, blame man (only)' crowd. behind many a vocal proponent for doing 'something' about climate change you find a business plan and exponential financial growth portfolio

they are not true believers, they are exploiters--they are of the same cloth as the men who 400 yrs ago, saw the Americas has a vast piggy bank just waiting to be cracked open
----------
but a big "hubba hubba" for those who want to invent/design, create and manufacture those goods, services and technologies that will be accessible financially and of genuine use for all ppl and of minimal impact to the environment

The fact is, if you want to make a difference in this day and age on a massive scale, you have two options. Either you win millions upon millions of souls who want to make a contribution to support the idea somehow, or you form a business plan that leads to profits and preferably lots of it so that people will be willing to invest in it. I think what Elon Musk is doing can be seen as a combination of the two.

Elon Musk is a visionary. I know them when I see them, and his actions show it. He works until he is exhausted, and he spends every dime on realizing his visions instead of buying mansions and private planes. I find the lifestyle of the latter disgusting. Elon Musk is the 21st Century

that may be

i just find it disturbing that he and others in this area of business/tech development seemingly are only making things that the 1% or so will be able to afford

he should be striving to make these things for everyone with a job to be able to afford

with his cars; Bill Maher bought one and was highly disappointment with it. He talked about it on his show a few yrs ago. All I could think was "poor you and F you for having the money to buy that thing to start with crying victim of a bad product"

I would be more impressed if for every high priced item he developed he developed a lower priced companion for more ppl to afford.

because what is the point of only making electric cars for the 1%? that will make very little impact on the environment. probably have a net negative impact actually as so few ppl will use even more fossil fuel generated energy to charge their cars.

I believe the model 3 is supposed to be lower priced.
