It's not a clone of anything else on SyFy. If anything, it sounds almost like another "Caprica" with the central story being a romance.

Sounds to me like a Game of Thrones done with corporations.

Perhaps, but both those shows were rooted in the distant future first and foremost, even if Continuum played out in the present, it was always about the future. The Expanse is even further in the future. Just the concept of "corporation" is sort of quaint IMO...when doing science fiction.

i think you know what i mean in general though; for a long while they tried to recreate the BSG deal with shows like SGU and others, then shock sex and gore with stuff like DOMINION

it just seems that instead of having actual creativity going on, they just seem to stop what they are doing when they get one successful show and then try to clone the idea or feel of it in other shows

As a footnote - this turd got cancelled after one season. I tried to watch the premiere but gave up less than 20 minutes in from the bad acting, the soapiness and ham handed political lecturing that reminded me of Elysium in its heavy handedness.

The name of the series alone turned me off. It struck me as a Mad Men in Space sorta thing. Not tantalizing.

Its almost as if SYFY is forced to buy shows "in bulk" or something by the lots.

Like this new lot had one good show in it- EXPANSE, and a crapload of auction lot partners that just suck.

12 MONKEYS would have been the 'winner' of the previous auction lot :)

12 monkeys needed to END. They went off the rails after the story was already basically told. Just like what happened to Primeval and Surface. It's okay to end shows! End them when the story is told, then make a new show. There are no BOOKS which just go on forever without ever ending.

I am sure it will be good, and you know I love the show, but they are no longer telling the same story. They did this with Under The Dome, remember? They started out with the dome (I read the book), then when the original story was over (when they hung Big Jim), the story was over. They instead stretched it out and changed it to the dumb alien queen thing. And in Continuum, they went from a mother trying to get back home to see her son to some mysterious "Traveler" who threatened the future. Thankfully, they ended that one with Kiera going back and seeing her son.

12 Monkeys the story is over. Everything from now on is a stretch out. You disagree?

Strangely SyFy has improved of late. The Expanse, Killjoys, Dark Matter, Z Nation and 12 Monkeys have all turned out well. There have been misfires (Hunters, Incorporated) but by and large they have improved.

Look on the brite side. For every time we see the final season of this show and that show, sometimes we get another season of The 100, The Travelers, and "Schitt's Creek".

they already changed the story before-twice I think?

Once after their trip to Chechnya and again when they destroyed the shipment of virus at the hangar before it was shipped

and of course in perfect cause and effect time travel lore- their actions changed their future but the threat still remained although changed

of course those two times WERE NOT as flagrant as this change with the whole time travelling factory/city thing :)

Actually in Continuum it started with her trying to get home. Then when Alec used the time device to change the future (to save Emily) he created the branching timelines, the two Keiras and indeed the threat to the future. The traveler was actually trying to fix the timeline.

This was why ultimately Keira and Liber8 joined forces. When it became clear that the "in place future" was apocalyptic and involved Kellogg running things, Keira decided that Liber8 was partly right. So of these shows it actually handled things decently well.
