Looks like it may be interesting....

That looks GREAT! Only thing, is if they keep the thing a mystery and we never see it, I won't watch. I am not going to watch another write-as-we-go series. I suspect Netflix has already vetted it. :) Im gonna check it out!

I get a Stephen King-ish vibe from it--that is, seems to be close to the stories he wrote at one time.

Kind of like IT, but BEFORE/without the stupid reveal that the evil thing stalking the kids was just a spider

S1 is 8 eps

i am on ep 6 and so far, it is a very entertaining show

it is not straight sci fi, nor fantasy, nor horror, or anything else but a good mix of many genres

i like the setting being in the 80's-leaves more for the kids and adults involved to "do" rather then the use of tech we have now to solve the mystery

to describe it in general, think a recipe consisting of the following:

a good amount of THE WONDER YEARS
A small bit of ET (but with a diabolical twist)
a sprinkle of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS (especially in comparing the actions of the Dreyfus character with those of the Winona Ryder character here)
a dash of any 80's horror flick you can think of (but without the blood)
some FIRESTARTER -or any other film with a telekinetic or psychokinetic subject
and the overall coating of the Stephen KIng type, child involved thriller mysteries

the general theme of the plot is a girl who is being used by a govt testing site to use her tele/psycho- powers to remote view and or direct control/ influence ppl and machines

at some point, the tests go awry and she has opened a portal of a sort to the alt dimension of a small US town where the lab is located--kids and other ppl disappear

cover ups and conspiracies and pseudo schizophrenic actions by the victims families begin and the viewing fun kicks off

worth the rainy day or lazy weekend to watch it

It might take you up to episode 4 to get really addicted to the show but it might be more than worth it. If you don't enjoy it by epi 3 then most likely you don't have a pulse, or an imagination for that matter.

I don't want to say what I bring to the table, but some of the episodes remind me of those cheap Canadian-made horror shows in the late 70s.

For a while I thought RL Stine wrote for the show, so if you need more check out some of the TV he made to scare those kids.

Sure enough we get a shout-out to one of those old shows in one of those final scenes. I smell Twin Falls and several Outer Limits episodes in this one. If you can waste 6 hours of your time then check this out.

"Stranger Things really sets its ’80s sci-fi/Stephen King vibe right off the bat. The series premiere opens on a laboratory isolated in the woods in Hawkins, Indiana, in 1983. A man in a lab coat runs down a dark hallway, frantically pushing buttons for the elevator. As the elevator arrives he seems to be safe, but as the doors are about to close something growls above him. He’s pulled up and we never see him again.

Meanwhile, four middle-schoolers, Michael, Dustin, Lucas, and Will, are playing a fantasy RPG in their basement. They want to play just a bit longer, but it’s time for them to go home Michael’s mom insists. That sends Will and Dustin biking home. They decide to race and, as Will pulls away, he finds his way into the same area as the laboratory and crashes his bike.

He hears something in the distance and scrambles home, but something’s still chasing him. He holes up in a shed in the backyard and loads a gun to fight off whatever’s coming for him, but it’s not enough. The lights flicker, a growl is heard, and Will disappears. That’s the setup for the rest of the series. Will Byers vanishes during a night of many power outages across Hawkins. His mother, Joyce (Winona Ryder), can’t find him the next morning, and neither can his older brother, Jonathan."

A monster (that might not be one). Classic Strephen King! Maybe I will give it a try. :)

I have been bingeing this on Kodi! GREAT SHOW! I really like this show and how the story is unfolding. The only thing bothering me about it is that I cannot see where the story is leading. I don't want endless mystery. I am SO DONE with that! I still can't get over how many shows were written that way, as though there was never going to be an ending.

No, I hadn't watched it. I was pleasantly surprised. I like the reveals. But I want a hint as to where it is all going. The last "mystery path" series I watched was Under The Dome, and I hated the ending. Continuum gave us an ending, but it could have been better. The others before it (SGU included) went nowhere and did not end.

I am still in my binge! I will finish Season 1 then go to Season 2. I am firing up Kodi right now. :)

Well, the missing kid is in S2 :)

imo, each season ends in a way that could be the series finale, or it could go to another season

i think i read where ST's has been approved for a S3? not sure

everything to be logical

ah! logic is too over rated :)

seriously though, stuff like this-the more 'fantastical' side of sci fi (ish) stuff, i just like to go with it and enjoy the show

some shows spend so much time tying everything together to make it logical that they sometimes ruin the show
