Is SyFy actually "getting it" again?

Ascension was a ratings disaster, and SyFy already made the choice to go no further with it.

In fact, I do wonder if the Ascension disaster had a role in SyFy changing its ways?

I bet it did. :) That show had Tricia Helfer, several other scanty beauties, it doubled down on the drama and seedy situations, and the thing totally flopped. The reveal of the ship being on earth basically destroyed it. Still, it was much more watchable than The After from Chris Carter. :P

You don't mean that awful Ascension movie do you? They would not pick that up...they would be fools to do that!

no it was something else

all i remember for the trailer--it was a combo trailer of several upcoming shows--was ppl being on a large ship moving slowly through space and some kids looking through windows into space---to me, it was very reminiscent of that SGA story arc with the generational ships

maybe it died before it lived?

Still sounding like Ascension's trailer....can you find out? The premise (if not Ascension) is interesting!

it seems syfy has cleaned up their yt channel

this is pretty much the only collage vid for 2016 shows (note the shot of Josh Holloway--scrungy man--from the colony? i wonder if it was to be on syfy but got moved to USA instead?)
most have started or are returning ones

the video that had the show I remember is on here somewhere in some thread--I have no idea where :(

maybe I am just remembering something from EXPANSE or Dark MATTER, both of which were in the trailer I remember.

it is strange though--syfy doesn't have any vids on YT promoting anything past this spring?

heisenberg

Earl Grey
yeah-that's what I said?

So I guess the idea of making a thread on this, and then promoting it to a feature--in the hopes of getting some of "his ppl" to come here is a flat out "no-go" then hey?

(just wish our little circle of ppl here got a little bigger that all :) )

The network needs to be dismantled. It had its run.

Whatever is happening at SyFy, they gave an order for a second season of "The Magicians" today.

So that makes "The Expanse", and "Killjoys" thrown in, with "12 Monkeys" coming back possibly in April.

I obviously can't get SyFy so I have no idea what other shows they broadcast. Their Zombie show could be filming in Washington State, but I haven't checked yet.

Not too shabby.

12 monkeys has been renewed.

it will begin in April per adverts-they have been re-running the first season recently

Isn't SPACE( is that the CBC sci fi channel?) running EXPANSE or 12 MONKEYS?

Seems a big miss to not get those shows on

All of those shows except The Magicians are filmed in Toronto so they are available. Like I say Z Nation is filmed in
Washington.

Space: That thing all around us is owned by CTV, which owns the rights to "Killjoys", as well as The Expanse. The final season of "Bitten" is showing as of the 12th. Dark Matter, that must be Space as well.

Showcase owns the right to The Magicians and possibly 12 Monkey's. To tell you the truth I don't watch that much TV anymore. The "100" or is it the "36" is available on my Netflix channel.

There are two new shows coming up for SyFy, which I have no clue. Winona Earp is it and a possible Van Helsing series.

When the second seasons of Wayward Pines and The Man In The High Castle premieres I will try and watch those.

The Expanse has a different production pedigree than the others. It is actually from Alcon Entertainment who usually do movies, and SyFy is the original network and it is distributed by NBC.

Space and Showcase is about all I watch in Canada. Bell Expressjunk's other offerings are borderline insulting to one's intelligence. Sure, there's TMN, which is pointless, and now HBO Canada, a shadow of its American counterpart.

Having 400 channels filled with CTV, CBC and Global from every possible corner and outhouse of every village in every province redistributed to every subscriber makes no sense to me unless one wants to make sure they don't miss a single episode of "Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye" or want to make sure they can watch the same episode all day long.

Hulu (commercial free option) + Netflix + VPN = sanity

When the second seasons of Wayward Pines

are they going forward with a S2 for WAYWARD PINES then? hope so, liked the show.

it was supposed to be limited/closed ended--maybe they just do that to somehow beat the cancellation axe of network geeks?
--------------------------

what do you think of the new season of 100?

i am getting through it-I DVR it so I usually FF through the teen angsty stuff.

like I told others, and I am sure you get, if you go into watching the 100 KNOWING that it involves teenagers/young adults, it is much more tolerable and can be very entertaining

i just wouldn't call it sci fi, more like future fiction, like JEREMIAH was

When I speak of rights I mean the right to broadcast the show in Canada.

If I remember correctly they filmed Wayward Pines around two years ago. All the contracts have expired and the sets have been torn down. So a little retro work is needed. Don't be surprised if they advance the timeline just a bit. If there are any important children in the show at least one will be given an obscene amount of growth hormones, then become an adult overnight and lead the rest into the future.

I just finished binge watching "Angel" the other night, so I have some free time to catch up on the second season of Schitt's Creek, watching "The 100" at a more leisurely rate.

Not sure how Wayward Pines would continue . It went the way of hitler youth kinda from what I remember and I am not interested in that point of view . But if the future monster humans eat them all up , then I'm in ...
;) ;) ;)

I did not know the Expansive was shot in Toronto . I will have to keep a bigger eye out for cast strolling around .
