Kevin Sorbo The Fall of Andromeda To His Racist Rant

He has deleted the offending post (as though anything on the Interwebs ever goes away) and has ostensibly posted an apology.

It is interesting to note, however, that his "apology" contains words written in British English, rather than American English. Thus, I am thinking that his manager/agent/lackey wrote the apology in his stead, as Mister Ultra-Conservative Christian Doesn't Have A Career Anymore is currently trying to drum up positive interest in his anti-non-Christian movie "God Is Not Dead".

It's been like watching Mel Gibson trying to rehabilitate his career. Makes for a good comedy act.

What did he say that was true? Nobody in Ferguson protested the murder of a young black girl at the hands of some black gangbangers.

I'm talking about what Kevin Sorbo said in response to the riots in Ferguson, Jim, not another unfortunate and terrible crime.

Focus, Jim. I know it's hard sometimes, but try to focus.

Perhaps Jim does not see the slight in Kevin's words?

"Hopefully this is a reminder to the African Americans ( I always thought we just Americans. Oh, well.) that their President the [sic] voted in has only made things worse for them, not better."

Ya know, I never quite pegged him as a staunch conservative far right Christian evangelist type. If I had known he was like that, the way he played Hercules would seem different to me. Nonetheless, he truly effed up. He's done as far as anything new. This sort of thing is beyond out of style these days.

I can't even find the alleged Ferguson MO crime to which he referred in his comment. Maybe you'll be able to find it, OM1?

I never cared for him, even as Hercules. And I couldn't stand Andromeda. Honestly, I never got the appeal of the man.

Andromeda just seemed like Majel's attempt to rehash elements of Trek with all the quality of a Sid & Marty Krofft show on Saturday mornings. Massive fail.

Actually the first roughly season and a half of Andromeda was pretty cool (you have to like a show where even the ship is a decently well developed character). Right in the middle of season two there was an episode titled "Ouraborous" where it just flew off the rails. Before then it was an ensemble cast show - after that it started turning into "The Kevin Sorbo Ego Hour" which was unwatchable.

I liked the show all the way up to the point when they make Lexa Doig (Andromeda the persona) into a real person (her avatar). Things got silly then. I was also not fond of the ship because of it's illogical design, but the writing was decent in season 1.

I think that was also in the second part of Season Two. It was when they turned Tyr into a villain and made Trance gold instead of blue and so on. They just changed a bunch of stuff none of which worked.

Yes, it was almost halfway. New writers, right? That show would have had more potential with different casting and a different vision of Roddenberry's original concept.

Yep. New writers.

The same way they brought in new writers after Season One of Earth Final Conflict who absolutely ruined a very promising show.

Never got into Earth Final Conflict or Andromeda . I was watching Lexx and just trying to understand that show and never had the time for the others . Lexx was funny creepy weird and of course I was in love with Zev but only the original girl . The replacement Zev had too much plastic parts installed on her body . I never did finish watching the show . It was getting really stupidy weird .

You're right. The ship made no sense. Its shape was completely ridiculous -- and DAMN but that thing was loaded with ladders. There should really be a drinking game to toss one back every time a character uses one for climbing down, as a tool to swing around from and kick an alien invader in his space gonads, climb UP...you get the idea.

It's easy to see the stuff that was cannibalized in concept from Trek. The avaricious species that was all about profit (and literally ate any and everything as youngsters until the point they reached sentience). The crew member accused of murdering a diplomat. The alien philosopher that holds the crew together, even though he's ugly as a box of moldy Ferengi, etc.

They chopped off the one alien's tail when they decided that it was too much to keep track of (maybe she kept destroying it during filming and they decided it wasn't cost effective to keep using it). Tyr, who always had to wear a shirt that pretty much was a variation on really slender linked chainmail (whether it was metal or fabric). His cold logic was the polar opposite of the alien philosopher's "We Are Family No Matter The Shape" spirituality.

I wanted to take the "chief engineer" and shove him out the nearest convenient airlock. He was just really REALLY annoying. Just too faux bright, snarky "kid" to me. (I'm old. Shoot me. He'll always look like a kid to me.)

They had the human woman so that there was one on the show. I think that Tits Magee got her position because Majel never got over losing her place as "Number One" in the original Trek. No, it wasn't fair of NBC, but the Andromeda's First Officer was pretty lame.

It really seemed a crime to me when they got John deLancie to do a part as bad guy. (Like that's a surprise where he's concerned)

I was doing some looking around online and found an interesting breakdown of Sorbo quotes from the time that he essentially "took over" the show -- and the massive contradictions that vomited from his mouth, depending upon whom he was speaking with at the time.

Someone pointed out that generally, the first thing you hear is probably closest to the truth, and subsequent utterances are damage control.

I also found this page from a few years ago. Interesting commentary from fans and former fans. http://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/andromeda-the-kevin-sorbo-show.206205/

Dylan was a HORRIBLE commander. Also what I did not like was that the name "Dylan Hunt" was iconic in Roddenberry's authorverse, and he was never meant to be a starship captain. I resented that his name was used in Andromeda.
