Favorite Babylon 5 Character

Could a mod maybe set up a poll that allows maybe 3 choices?

My favourite is definitely Ivanova hands down. Sheridan's pretty awesome too. And I liked Sinclair, don't care what you guys say, haha.
I hated the first half of season 5, mostly cause of the Bryan telepathetic crap. But it was also cause Ivanova wasn't there! She was the best character of the show.

I like Ivanova too, but come on, you just have to love Londo. He had the best and most memorable lines on the show. Marcus would be a close second.

I like Lennier as well. Marcus reminds me way too much of Aragorn. Lennier is the person you want "in your corner" Loyal to a fault, yet inteligent enough to do what must be done, even if it must be done without Delenn's knowledge in order for the whole to succeed.

I think it was the unrequited love (for Delenn) that got me (I'm a sap; what can I say?). Plus, I had a soft spot for Bill Mumy at the time I was watching B5 since he had helped create 'Space Cases' and I was running Kristian Ayre's (who was on SC along with Jewel Staite and one episode of SG-1) website then.

Hey, I can be pretty sappy too, nothing wrong with it :)

What they did Lennier in season five made me like him less. Marcus grew on me, especially at the end of season 4. But in the beginning, his personality was too forceful, like trying too hard to be liked or something. Londo I can't really like because of what he did. He never really paid the price, his people might have but he never really felt guilt about what he did, why I couldn't really call him my favourite. I liked Sinclair too and Garibaldi in the first few seasons.

I just finished reading the "Legions of Fire" trilogy that was based on JMS's outline, and trust me Londo paid dearly. Marcus took a while to grow on me too, but his sarcasm delivered in that British accent always had me cracking up.

I always found Lennier's devotion to Delenn a little creepy - like a stalker with the zeal of a cultist. I hear what you're saying though.

It did straddle the line between unhealthy obsession and undying devotion. I think what sucked me in was Lennier standing silently with tears on his face while the crysalis formed around Delenn.

Or maybe I just have a thing for one-sided relationships. I was also a big fan of Joxer on Xena and was cheering on his love of Gabrielle (even though that was *never* going to happen). Like I said before: me is big ol' sap.

After now having watched all of the TV seasons for B5, I think G'Kar was probably my favorite character. Lennier is cool and all, but G'kar represents a similar personality, but with the wisdom to see beyond himself and his own wants and desires.

I just found this vid, and I don't mind saying not only did I tear up and get a lump in my throat, I all but bawled my eyes out like a baby (I kid, I did bawl). THIS is what scifi means to me, that which we can do, not just what we are, the promise of all that the future holds and how all of us truly do matter.

B5 could write great characters, the story was folded unto itself and you still felt like you got the episode but then another piece of the story later on explained a little more of what you had previously seen. My favorite character was the lady who also played is SG1 & SGA as a member of the IOA. She had Ivannova's position first. Then i liked Ivannova because she always had to fight the knee jerk reaction and could and would back up everything she said.

a draw between Ivanova and Marcus. Ivanova because she was badass, yet fragile in her own way. Her character evolution was so well thought out and planned.

Marcus just had this air of not even being in the moment, always a bit ahead and just shrugging off how close to death he always got. When he knocks out an entire bar worth of people looking for how to find Delenn and he's just "Oh great! Now i've got to wait for someone to wake up!" I just about burst my spleen laughing.

Ivanova, mainly because she certainly got the best lines of any of the female characters. Then G'Kar and Londo, because they're just so great together on screen, and their relationship is a complex and interesting one. Finally Dr. Franklin who also has an interesting character arc, and besides, he's cute. :sentimental:

I can't believe this shit! When will it end. From one of the greatest sci-fi shows ever, B5, another actor is moving to the other side of the rim.

Vir Cotto; aka Flounder; aka Stephen Furst expired over the weekend due to complications from diabetes.

All is quiet now - even the Pak'ma'ra are sad enough that they don't want to sing.

"It taught us that we have to create the future, or others will do it for us. It showed us that we have to care for another, because if we don't, who will?"

He was one of my favorite characters. :(. And yeah, so many of the people we knew and loved in our favorite scifi shows are gone. But some remain, which is great. RIP Stephen Durst.
