methinks he is saying she gives him the opposite of a hard-on? :icon_redface: but then I may be wrong....he's a bit too incoherent for me. :(

Kate Mulgrew gives me a hard-on............... but then, that is not of consequence because you guys want to know what gets CTT rigid. I'll leave you guys to your speculation.

How about Mike Nelson from MST3k as Janeway?

True story

I haven't seen Veeger for years but I was flipping thru channels and hit on it. It happened to be a scene where Harry Kim was caught in some fantasy about 709 by 709. Probably a holodeck program. Now I always brake for 709 scenes, especially those in the preferred silver, not brown, suit. After some suggestive dialogue her question was, "Then you want to copulate?". You didn't hear me squeal in the UK?

I guess we all just have different ways of looking at things.

I really liked Kate Mulgrew as Janeway. She always had a "classiness" to her that made the portrayal work. She displayed a softness at times but there was never a doubt she was an officer.

Jeri Ryan was more eye candy, and ironically gave better performances when they did not have her in the catsuit.

Indeed. Whoever thought of casting Genevieve Bujold in this role was looney.

I think they thought she was exotic since she has that French-Canadian accent. That had to be the only reason. It was pretty obvious that she couldn't cut it though as she delivers her lines like she's reading them off cue cards and is very stiff. Mulgrew is very natural and believable when she says the lines. It was a good choice to switch to her in the role.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

They cast these people at the time of the first wave of political correctness in the US (Kate Mildew, Avery Brooks). I guess I never watched both of those shows because always felt I was being manipulated. As much as I did try to watch them, I really couldn't stand DS9 nor Veeger. Frankly I thought both of them stunk. That's why I became a big Babylon 5 fan.

You see, I told you you wouldn't want to know.

Okay.

The rest of us here appear to have like Voyager and Kate Mulgrew (who was not the first female Star Trek captain - there were women captians and admirals in TNG and I think even a woman captain in TOS).

Wasn't there an episode in TOS where a female takes over Kirk's body and complains how, cos she is a woman, they are not considered capable of Captaining a starship, so she had no choice but to take over his body? I can't remember much of the details. :S

But there was Captain Rachel Garrett of ENT-C.

I felt the exact same way myself! :beckettu: Plus, the lacking quality of the DS9 pilot and of the odd VOY episodes I happened to catch just confirmed my prejudice, so I skipped the shows.
It was only much later on that I decided to check them out at a video rental (I remember a remark in the ST:Insurrection movie about the Federation getting its ass kicked by the Dominion and the Borg intrigued me - who were those first guys, and what had the Borg been doing since 1st Contact?)... and then I really liked the episodes and ended watching DS9 and VOY first starting from season 4, then again from the beginning.
